BlueV8 AFM/DFM Disabler for GM V6/V8

Why GM Owners Like It

BlueV8 AFM/DFM Disabler — Keep Your GM V8 Running on All 8 Cylinders

The BlueV8 AFM DFM Disabler is a plug-and-play OBD2 device that keeps Active Fuel Management (AFM) and Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) from switching your GM V8 into 4-cylinder mode. Plug it into the OBD-II port of your Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon or Cadillac Escalade, and the engine stays in full V8 mode — the easiest way to turn off Active Fuel Management with no ECU tune, no tools, and no mechanical work.

Why disable AFM / DFM (also called DOD — Displacement on Demand)?
GM's cylinder deactivation system collapses lifters to shut down half your cylinders, dozens of times per drive. That constant switching is a leading cause of AFM lifter failure and camshaft wear on 5.3L and 6.2L V8s. Keeping the engine in full-cylinder mode removes the switching cycle entirely:

✔️ Full-Time, Smooth Power: Eliminates all lag, vibration, and weird exhaust sound changes caused by cylinder deactivation. Your drive is consistently smooth and responsive.

✔️ Built for Lifter Protection: Stops the cycle of wear that leads to expensive lifter failure. It’s the cheapest insurance you can buy for your engine.

✔️ Plug & Play Installation: No tools, wiring, or laptop tuning required. Find your OBD-II port (under the dash), plug it in, and drive. To remove, simply unplug – your factory settings return instantly.

✔️ No More Annoying Auto Start/Stop:On vehicles equipped with factory Auto Start/Stop, the device can help keep the system off for a smoother, more predictable driving experience.

✔️No ECU Tune. Fully Reversible. No ECU flash or permanent tune. Unplugging the device returns the vehicle to factory operation. Vehicle warranty coverage may vary by manufacturer, dealer, and applicable law. Please consult your vehicle warranty terms.

✔️ Broad GM Compatibility: Our upgraded design supports a wide range of GM V8 and V6 engines (including 4.3L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L) across many model years of trucks, SUVs, and cars.*

✔️ Real Support: We stand by our product with quality you can trust and 24/7 customer service to answer your questions.

Plug & Play Installation

Step 1: Find your OBD port

Locate your vehicle’s OBD‑II port (usually under the dash near the steering wheel).

Step 2: Plug in

Plug the AFM/DFM Disabler into the port—you can do this with the engine on or off.

  • If the vehicle is off: The LED will blink a few times and then turn off. That’s normal—it’s in standby mode.
  • If the vehicle is on: The first blue light lights up after plugging in, then the second one flashes. All lights will fade out shortly after turning off the engine.

Step 3: You’re Ready to Drive!

Just start driving and enjoy smoother, full-cylinder performance right away.

💡 Helpful Tip:

Our disabler is designed with ultra‑low power draw, so you can safely leave it plugged in for weeks between drives. If you plan to park your vehicle for a month or longer, we recommend simply unplugging it for total peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will this void my warranty?

A: Here's the honest answer — U.S. federal law is on your side. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a dealer can't void your factory warranty simply because you installed an aftermarket accessory. To deny a specific claim, they'd have to show the accessory actually caused that failure. BlueV8 never tunes or reflashes your ECU — it's plug-and-play and fully reversible: unplug it, and your vehicle returns to 100% factory operation with no permanent changes. Final coverage decisions always rest with your manufacturer or dealer under your warranty terms, so review them if you're unsure. And the device itself? Covered by our 20-year warranty.

Q: What will it do to my gas mileage?

A: Most users don’t see a noticeable change, and some even see a small improvement—especially in city driving where constant cylinder switching can actually hurt mileage. On pure highway trips, you might see a very slight decrease, but it’s generally minimal.

Q: Does it reprogram my ECU?

A: Not at all. It doesn’t change or rewrite any of your factory programming. It simply sends a command to the ECU to keep all cylinders active.

Q: Will it pass emissions testing?

A: This product is not designed to remove, bypass, or disable emissions-control hardware. Customers are responsible for complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. If your state inspection requires access to the OBD-II port, remove any OBD accessory before inspection.

Q: Will it fix my car if I already have a collapsed lifter?

A: Unfortunately, no. A collapsed lifter is a mechanical failure that requires physical repair. Helps reduce AFM/DFM cylinder-deactivation switching on compatible vehicles. It is not a repair device and does not fix existing mechanical problems.

Q: Is there a warranty?

A: Yes! Every AFM/DFM Disabler comes with a 20-year warranty.

Q: Does it add horsepower?

A: It doesn’t add horsepower, but it does give you all of your engine’s power, right when you need it. By eliminating the lag when the system switches back from V4 to V8 mode, throttle response feels much sharper and more consistent.

Q: Does it disable auto stop/start?

A: Yes, on vehicles equipped with factory Auto Start/Stop, this device can help keep Auto Start/Stop disabled. If your vehicle does not have Auto Start/Stop, this feature simply does not apply.

Q: How exactly does it “protect” my engine?

A: It tackles the root cause of the most common and catastrophic failure in these GM engines. AFM/DFM physically turns off half your cylinders by collapsing lifters, dozens of times per drive. This repeated on/off slamming causes excessive wear. Our device stops this process entirely, allowing all components to operate in their designed, stable, full-cylinder state. This significantly reduces stress on the valvetrain, helping to prevent lifter collapse, camshaft scoring, and the domino effect of damage that follows.
